About Deisleen Development Corporation
Deisleen Development Corporation (DDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization dedicated to fostering strong social, economic, environmental, and culturally sustainable community development opportunities. The DDC Board of Directors sets policy and provides broad overall direction for the Corporation. Board Members play an important role guide the direction of the organization but are not directly involved in the day-to-day operations and activities of the corporation.
Roles & Responsibilities
- The DDC proudly serves Teslin Tlingit people, regardless of geographic location, and all residents and businesses who live and work on the Teslin Tlingit Traditional Territory.
- The DDC’s sole Member, Teslin Tlingit Council, appoints members to the Board to reflect their vision of the corporation.
- Directly flowing the from this, the Board is the custodian of the Member’s vision and responsible through appointment to carry out the mandate of the Corporation.
- Board Members work together to advance the goals, objectives and priorities of the organization and commit both the time and effort to board meetings and committee meetings, and are eligible to receive an honorarium for their time.
- Committee work may include, but is not limited to, organizing and/or chairing committee meetings on a regular or ad hoc basis to collect information or advance discussion on a specific issue to help support informed decision-making by the Board of Directors.
- Board Members regularly attend and participate in meetings, and Board Members strive for full participation throughout the year.
- DDC has two for-profit subsidiaries, Lightning Fire Management and Teslin Environmental Services, as part of a social enterprise model.
- As part of DDC’s focus on Revitalization, our team works to deliver programs and services that support opportunity readiness and workforce development in the post-COVID economy. This includes working with partners on projects and initiatives that enhance local capacity, create employment, maximize participation in current/emerging opportunities and ultimately contribute to community well-being.
